NDC ICT Strategy
As a core part of its information and communication technology, (ICT) implementation programme the Neighbourhood Development Company (NDC) is creating an Internet wireless broadband signal to potentially link all members of the community within the NDC area of Radford and Hyson Green. This will provide a community wide wireless network that will enable anyone in the area with a computer and wireless network card to access the NDC network free of charge. At the heart of the NDC network will be a Community Information Portal which will provide local people with local information and help which they can contribute to in an interactive manner. In a nutshell NDC have the following aims for the portal:
NDC have commissioned First Data (Training) to carry out an IT Survey of the NDC area to investigate current and future use of ICT in the neighbourhood. The following documents are both theoretical and practical ongoing work towards that end. Note: The Neighbourhood Development Company manages the New Deal for Communities programme. This document is an overview of attempts internationally to implement an ICT strategy in widely different contexts. In particular, we note, similar mistakes have repeatedly been made. This is a comparison of the ICT sections of the 2002-2004-2006 MORI Surveys which cover the Radford and Hyson Green NDC area. Have a look at this poster if you wish to take part in the current survey of information technology in the NDC area. Also, there are details of the NDC hardware distribution. Here is a list of sites which will help you to take control of your Internet usage. A 'get you going' guide to using the BT Net Gem digital television box with Freeview and Internet access.
