Course Aims
 
This course offers students the chance to gain an equivalent GCSE qualification without going back to school. Learn new skills or brush up on existing ones.  Students will undertake an Initial Assessment to ascertain their Literacy level on entry to the course before completing a computer-based Diagnostic Assessment, which will highlight candidates' strengths and weaknesses.  By the end of the course students will have gained a more in-depth understanding of English Literacy.
 
At the end of the course students will have the opportunity to take the on-line OCR National Test in Literacy at Levels 1 and 2.
 
 
 
Course Content
 
Students will have the opportunity to learn how to:
 
  • Improve spelling
  • Enhance punctuation
  • Improve writing skills
  • Use effective proof-reading
  • Use plurals, nouns, verbs, adverbs and adjectives
  • Improve sentence building/structure
  • Set up own email
  • Display text using creative software
 
Requirements
 
Students should have reached Entry Level 2 before attending this course
 
Software used: 
Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer and Skills for Life Diagnostic Assessment
 
Qualification:
OCR National Test in Literacy Level 1 and 2
