A course for parents/carers
of children 2-5 years
 
This course offers family learning with embedded basic skills to parents and children aged 2-5 years.  The course is specifically aimed at parents who do not already have a level 2 basic skills qualification ie. GCSE English or Maths grade A*-C or National Test in Literacy or Numeracy at L2.  Sessions are designed for parents/carers to work with one child on a mixture of arts and crafts, creative ICT sessions and work with digital cameras.  The course will also include a FREE day trip for regular attendees.
 
 
 
 
 
The courses are designed to:
 
  • Encourage parents to support their child's learning
  • Enable adults to review and action plan their basic skills needs
  • Encourage good parent child communication
  • Increase parental awareness of ICT
  • To support parents into further training/employment
 
 
There will be initial assessments of each adult's literacy or numeracy.  They will be offered the opportunity to work towards achieving the OCR On-Screen National Test in Literacy or Numberacy at Levels 1 and 2.
